DESCRIPTION:Help us kick off our new program, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten: Early Literacy for ages 0 – Kindergarten! \nEarly literacy skills have a lifelong impact on educational and occupational success.  Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler, or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (Yes, you CAN repeat books!) before your kiddo starts kindergarten. \nDoes it sound hard? Let’s break it down:\nIf you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think!\nGet started here:\nVisit the latahlibrary.org to register. Once registered pickup or download your reading log, read a book with your little one, have them color in a seashell on the log!\nOur first 100 participants will receive a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten tote bag, a paperback picturebook & their first 100 Book Log! \nCelebrate each 100 book milestone:\nHelp your little bring their finished reading log into the library, and celebrate by receiving a milestone prize and adding a gold doubloon to the treasure chest in our reading mural!\nRemember, re-reading a book counts!\nRegistration will open at the Moscow Public Library on Tuesday. Open dates for registration may very by branch. Check your local branch for details.
