The Deary library opened in 1981 in a tiny building on the east side of Deary. After moving the collection to a temporary location when its original site was needed for other uses, the members of the Deary community volunteered their time and talents to build the current home of the library on a parcel of land donated for that purpose. The Deary library has been in its new quarters since 1988.
